Zusammenfassung

Es wird über ein 16 ⁸/₁₂ Jahre altes Mädchen berichtet, das eine linksseitige Stammganglienblutung erlitt. Nach einer kurzzeitig notwendigen externen Ventrikeldrainage kam es zu einer Meningitis durch Streptococcus (Str.) oralis. Anhand einer kurzen Übersicht über die aktuelle Literatur werden die Besonderheiten derartiger Infektionen erläutert und die zweckmäßige antimikrobielle Therapie bei Nachweis von Str. oralis diskutiert.

Summary

This report deals with a almost 17-year-old girl, who suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage (stem ganglions on the left side). Several days after the insertion of a ventriculostomy catheter a purulent meningitis due to Streptococcus (Str.) oralis was diagnosed. Based on a short review of the literature, clinical and microbiological aspects of these infections and the appropriate antibiotic treatment of Str. oralis infections are discussed.
